Karren Brady has revealed the one condition she made when she signed on to star in The Apprentice.

Last year, Karren addressed whether she was on equal pay to both Lord Sugar and Claude Littner on the BBC show, jokingly saying: "I would say they get paid equally to me. Well, I would say that, wouldn't I?"

Viewers will soon see her talk about her pay in a new documentary for Channel 5 about the gender pay gap. In it, she appears to say she only agreed to be on The Apprentice as long as nobody was paid more than her, but Karren has clarified those comments to The Guardian.

"No, no. I think that came across completely wrong. I did point that out to the makers, actually. Alan is obviously the main person on the show. I meant the roles that are equal to mine – I wouldn't accept being paid less," she explained.

Karren took over from Margaret Mountford in series six of The Apprentice, originally paired with Nick Hewer as Lord Sugar's advisors, before Claude took over from Nick in series 11, so we assume she's referring to both of them in terms of roles the same as hers.

She's also clarified her reported personal wealth of £85 million by saying the figure is "complete rubbish, I'm not worth anything like that".

Why Do Men Earn More Than Women? airs at 10pm on April 4 on Channel 5.
