It takes a lot of courage to get on the Let it Shine stage. We've had seasoned professionals and West End stars, so trying to compete with the best of the best is the pretty tough.

But it is possible, as Sam Glen just showed after the young actor knocked it out the park, despite being very new to singing.

If he looks familiar it's because the young actor has actually appeared on TV before – as the character Slim on the CBBC show World's End.

But despite knowing how to act, Sam admitted he was very new to singing.

He told the judges: "I've always been a bedroom singer.

"My mum didn't know I could sing till three weeks ago."

But that didn't seem to phase him, after he killed it performing Natalie Imbruglia's 'Torn'.

And it looked like it acting experience did him well, with Martin Kemp praising his dramatisation.

"You used what you knew and that was your strength and I thought that was fantastic".

Sam earned a total score of 16, taking him safely through to the next round, with Gary adding: "You've got a great little voice under there you really have".

It them all go a bit emotional with Sam admitting: "When you act you're somebody else and for me to sing her this is me exposed so it's a big thing for me to expose myself like that.
