When the series aired on BBC One before its switch to ITV, the coaches and their intimidating red chairs would spin around to confront the auditioning acts during blind auditions - even if they didn't hit their buzzers.

On what else we can expect from the freshly-formatted series, Emma told us: "It will be a new twist on a classic show.

"People love it for a reason because it's a genuine talent-nurturing show. It will be a new spin on a great show."

Tom is back as a coach on the refreshed ITV programme, and he and Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am - who anchored the show's complete five series on BBC One - will also be joined by Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson and former Bush singer and ex to Gwen Stefani Gavin Rossdale.

And to sum it all up better than we could ever find the words, will.i.am contemplated: "I love charity.

"love philanthropy.

"And I like BBC.

"But I also like to party....

"So I guess I'm going to like ITV."

The show launched with the first blind auditions in Manchester, with Emma, all four coaches and host of the new spinoff show V Room Cel Spellman, this week (October 18).

The Voice will begin on ITV in January.
