Pete Wicks has responded to Maura Higgins' I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! appearance.

The TOWIE star has been romantically linked to the Love Island personality recently. Both of them are busy appearing on major reality shows at the moment: Pete with Strictly Come Dancing, Maura with I'm a Celeb.

Maura recently took part in one of the show's classic eating Bushtucker Trials, titled 'The Terrifying Teddy Bears' Picnic'. She and Reverend Richard Coles were served a range of unappetising items to eat, in order to win far tastier junk food treats for their campmates.

Over on her Instagram account by her management), Pete commented on a video featuring clips from the Trial cut together with Tom Walker's "all mouth or not" clip from Love Island.

Maura addressed the speculation about herself and Pete before heading into the jungle, responding to a question about whether she's dating Pete by saying: "I'm not, I'm not. Where have you heard that?

"I mean, I date, but I'm very much single... I mean, I've been on a date with many people."

A few weeks before those comments, she stated that she and Pete do get along really well, although not in a romantic way.

"We're friends. Do you know what's so weird? We met very soon after me coming off [Love Island] and we just instantly clicked," she said.

"Our humour is the same. It's like that sick, dark humour. It's very abusive. We abuse each other. Very nasty, hilarious.

"We just get on very, very well. Very, very well. I adore him, he's amazing."

For the last two weeks, Pete and professional dance partner Jowita Przystał have been at the bottom of the judges' leaderboard on Strictly but thanks to the viewers' votes, they have managed to avoid landing in the dance-off.

Strictly airs on Saturday and Sunday nights on BBC One, while I'm a Celebrity airs nightly on ITV1.
