Strictly Come Dancing's Karen Hauer has addressed her exit from this year's competition after she and her partner Paul Merson were voted out.

The duo were eliminated in yesterday's (October 20) results show after their Samba to Rose Royce's 'Car Wash' landed them at the bottom of the leaderboard. In the dance-off, the judges unanimously voted to save JB Gill and Amy Dowden.

After their elimination was aired, Karen shared a series of photos of herself and Paul from Saturday's live show to her Instagram.

In her caption, she wrote: "There's a couple of things I came away with from teaching the legend that is Paul Merson.

"1. Not shying away from a challenge. 2. You 'MUST' have Fun. But most importantly 3. Live in the moment.

On last night's show, after the elimination was announced, Paul said: "It's been really good. For anybody I talk to, I would say you've got to go on this show. It's amazing – everybody.

"[Karen's] been amazing, absolutely amazing, and I couldn't wish for a better coach. I've loved every minute of it."

Karen responded by telling Paul: "You're what Strictly is about, and I want to thank you for bringing such joy and just showing everyone that it is possible with a little bit of work and lots of giggles."

Karen and Paul's exit leaves 11 couples remaining, and next week will be the Halloween special.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
