Strictly Come Dancing professional Katya Jones has called for an "end" to the controversy surrounding her partner Wynne Evans.

On Saturday night (October 12), fans noticed Katya move Wynne's hand from her waist in the Clauditorium. Another clip saw the professional dancer ignore Wynne's attempt at a high five, with the scenes quickly going viral on social media.

Shortly after the show, the pair took to Instagram to share a video of themselves apologising for the confusion, as they were "just messing around".

Katya later denied feeling "uncomfortable or offended in any way", with Wynne recently sharing how "heartbroken" he's felt after reading negative comments online.

During an appearance on It Takes Two tonight (October 14), Katya shared her frustration over Wynne being "portrayed as someone he's not".

"Can I please get something out of the way that I feel overshadowed our performance for absolutely no reason. I quite frankly can't bear sitting here watching this man being portrayed as someone he's not," she began.

"In fact, it couldn't be further away from the truth. So, I have to make this absolutely clear that this whole incident with the hand and the high five on Saturday night – it was an inside joke between Wynne and I. Was it a silly joke? Yes. Was it a bad joke? Yes."

Wynne went on to reveal that he could see how people may have "misinterpreted" his actions after watching the clips back.

"However, it was a joke," continued Katya. "Even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way is total nonsense and those that have doubts, you guys have got it wrong. So, hopefully this will be the end of it."

On Saturday, Wynne and Katya performed a tango to the iconic ABBA song 'Money, Money, Money', which scored 34 points – landing them joint second on the leaderboard.

"This is why I love Strictly Come Dancing. This is why I love dancing," said Motsi Mabuse. "I feel like, for me personally, this is your best dance yet. I've been waiting for this dance."

This week, they are taking on the quickstep to Electric Light Orchestra's hit '70s tune 'Mr. Blue Sky'.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
