Married at First Sight UK star Charlie Curtis has shared that she has “more self-love” following her experience on the show.

The star appeared in the ninth series of the reality show, coupling up with Eve Reid before they both opted to leave the experiment following the second commitment ceremony.

Despite the rocky relationship and its dramatic ending, Charlie revealed in an interview with DIVA that she was still glad to have taken part in the E4 show, sharing that she learned some valuable lessons along the way.

“I feel like I learnt so much about myself,” she explained. “I have confirmed that my gut instincts are always right and I should listen to it a bit more. I’ve found a lot more self-love in myself. I’m proud of myself. I was true to myself. It was important to go on and be true to who I was and show raw emotion.

“Regardless of whether we’re queer, lesbian, gay, or straight, we are all human beings at the end of the day. Regardless of your sexual orientation, relationships will be what they are. People go through these things whether you’re lesbian or straight.

“It represents that regardless of what we see in the media, we still struggle and there are problems in lesbian relationships. I hope that seeing this show will take away the pressure to have these perfect U-haul relationships. It’s not realistic and people do clash.”

Charlie and Eve’s separation came following a tumultuous relationship, with a fraught honeymoon in Mexico preceding a tense period of no-contact ahead of the first commitment ceremony.

Despite both opting to stay after the first hurdle, tensions flared up again in the following ceremony after Eve failed to complete a task that was assigned by the experts, with the final straw coming after she attempted to listen in on Charlie’s private conversation with producers.

After denying the fact, Mel Schilling remarked that the experts were “aware” of the situation and accused Eve of being untruthful.

Once both agreed to leave the experiment, Charlie remarked that Eve had “broken her trust” by attempting to listen in on the interview, with Eve apologising for “everything [she had] put [her] through”.
