Celebs Go Dating's Stephen Webb has made a big gesture on the show, which comes after a backlash over his behaviour.

The former Gogglebox star is appearing on the current series of the E4 dating show, though allegedly showed "crude" behaviour and asked "inappropriate" questions on one date, with the star given "the worst feedback ever".

Stephen was also confronted by expert Paul C Brunson about his behaviour on multiple dates.

In the show's latest episode last night (September 16), Stephen made a heartfelt gesture towards date David as he handed over a birthday gift during dinner.

"At the retreat, David told me his favourite book was Jurassic Park," Stephen told the VT. "So I hunted the whole of London and found him a second edition. See agents, I am listening."

"It's just a little token. It's nothing, you know," he then told his date as David proceeded to unwrap the present.

"That's really sweet of you to get me a present… Oh, I love it," he exclaimed.

"That was the book that came out with the film," Stephen then explained to him. "I ran all over London trying to find that. One bookshop had it."

"That's... wow. That's amazing, thank you very much," David added as the pair shared a kiss. "That's really sweet of you. Like, I'm kind of a bit speechless to be honest."

Narrator Rob Beckett then joked in the voiceover: "Same, I've just looked and there's at least 15 copies on eBay. Cheeky bastard!"

It comes after Stephen defended his sense of humour last week following criticism of him on the show from experts and viewers.

"I've been out of the dating game for 12 years. So, very rusty. Very rusty," he told Best magazine's Suddenly Single podcast. "And I have got, I will admit, a kind of 1970s Benny Hill, kind of, sense of humour which doesn't go down well with the under 30s.

"I've had to tune that in. I've learned that from being on Celebs Go Dating that I may be a little bit archaic. I just think there's a lot of people out there that are ready to be offended and ready to cancel you. So I was quite aware of that. Not straight away."

Celebs Go Dating airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 9pm on E4.
