Nick Knowles has admitted he was "bored senseless" at times in the I'm a Celebrity jungle, while describing his Strictly Come Dancing experience as "really great" so far.

Knowles, who finished sixth in the 2018 series, told Digital Spy and other press that his experience in the jungle was "really different" compared to the dancing contest.

"In the jungle, you're all having a go at games and things, [but] the biggest difficulty when you do [the] jungle is boredom," said the DIY SOS presenter.

"Most of the time you're just bored senseless, and that's why you'll desperately go and do anything."

Despite the tedious elements, the I'm a Celebrity experience wasn't all bad for Knowles.

"I was there with an amazing bunch of people," he said. "Harry Redknapp and people like that, and ours was a really really positive group."

However, he has found Strictly to be a contrast so far, sharing: "You're not bored for a second. Literally every day, your day is entirely filled."

While I'm a Celeb and Strictly don't have many similarities, Knowles did say that one thing the two shows have in common is "the camaraderie and the support".

However, he added that so far, his Strictly experience hadn't had the level of competitive tension on I'm a Celebrity – which he said had felt "quite combative" at times.

"There's no sense of that here at all. Not an ounce of it," he added.

"Everybody is being super supportive and it's a really great environment to be in. It's really, really great."

Ahead of his Strictly debut this weekend, Knowles took to Instagram to update fans about his "tough" training sessions.

"So first day of real training," said Knowles on Monday (September 9). "I've been going about 15 minutes and I've lost about two stone in sweat."

He added: "It's proving very tough but enormously enjoyable at the same time. So yeah, real mix of feelings. But my dance partner has been brilliant.

"You can't find out who that is yet, but very, very soon you will. And she's been amazing."

Strictly Come Dancing will return on Saturday, September 14 on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
