Davina McCall was overcome with emotion when she won a National Television Award on Wednesday (September 11).
Some of the biggest stars in British television were gathered in London’s O2 Arena for the glamorous ceremony, and out of them all, McCall was selected to win the 2024 Special Recognition Award.
The surprise award was presented by Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham, who fondly described McCall as "one of the most inspirational, passionate, joyful, caring, and fruity people" she's ever met.

McCall broke down in tears upon realising she'd won the special award, as a montage of her television career was played out on-screen.
“Thank you so much. This means so much, I can’t even begin to tell you,” she tearfully exclaimed as she accepted the gong. "I don't even know where to start, really."

"I love my job. I feel so privileged to be able to share it with you and that you quite like some of it – not all of it. I've presented some turkeys, I know!”

"I particularly want to thank all my menopause warriors," McCall continued. "I feel like this has been a gift that's been given to me – the menopause. I know, it seems weird right?
"But I've got more out of doing my work on that, the documentaries that I've presented, than I could have ever imagined."
Moving on to thank her loved ones, the former Big Brother presenter continued: "I just want to say thanks to my kids. I love my kids so much, and you can imagine having me as a mother – bloody nightmare."
She became emotional once more as she thanked her partner Michael Douglas.
"Thank you," McCall said. "I love being on this journey with you. You make me a better person, and you make me so happy. Thank you."
The National Television Awards aired live from The O2 Arena in London on ITV1 and ITVX on Wednesday, September 11.
