Love Island star Laura Anderson has addressed her split from former Hollyoaks actor Gary Lucy, which occurred whilst she was pregnant.

The pair met during the 11th season of Celebs Go Dating back in 2022, with Laura announcing in February 2023 that she was pregnant with Gary’s child, with the Footballers’ Wives star sharing a separate statement in which he confirmed that he and Laura had split.

Laura gave birth to a baby girl, Bonnie, in September of that year, with Gary being present, but the couple didn’t get back together, and now Laura has given her version of events during an appearance on the Made by Mammas podcast.

“I was so excited to become a mum, but it probably was the hardest time,” she began. “At the time when I was announcing that I was pregnant, even though we weren’t together I was hoping that we’d work it out.

“Because as soon as you put into the public domain that we are not together, it kind of felt a bit of an attack. He did that the day that we were supposed to announce that I was pregnant. [At that point I realised we] weren’t going to work this out.”

“[Trolls would say] ‘you must be so desperate to have kids,’ and then because I met Gary and we had a child quickly, it made this narrative,” she explained. “She was planned. I just felt like I failed slightly before I even got started.

“She wasn’t even here yet, and I felt that I’ve not given her that basic right. I also don’t think it is my fault that we are not together.”
