Trisha Goddard is set to host Good Morning Britain as a guest presenter next week.

The legendary chat host will front episodes of the ITV morning show on Tuesday and Wednesday, the star confirming the news as a guest on the show today (August 8).

"I'm not normally nervous, I have to say," she told hosts Kate Garraway and Ed Balls, before saying she found being interviewed more nerve-wracking than the idea of hosting.

"That bit I'm not nervous about, and I said before this bit I've been shaking like a chihuahua," the star quipped.

During the interview, Goddard spoke about her terminal breast cancer diagnosis, explaining why she didn’t want to be a "poster girl" for the condition.

"It's not who I am, it's what I'm living with," she said. "Coming back to people with chronic illnesses, I think we do them a disservice we use words like brave, champion, hero, survivor.

"Because they just want to grasp the life they have and drink life unto the lees. I don't want everything to be, 'Oh you look so good' – in brackets – 'considering you've got cancer'. I just don't want that, it's not who I am."

The star further revealed that she is "okay" and "fine" at the moment, adding: "I'm getting used to my new normal, which is treatments every three weeks, infusions."

Speaking back in February, Goddard shared that she received her diagnosis 19 months prior, having initially been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008.

Addressing her reasons for speaking publicly this year, she told Hello: "I can't lie. I can't keep making up stories.

"It gets to a stage, after a year and a half, when keeping a secret becomes more of a burden than anything else. I'm nervous. But it needed to be done."

Good Morning Britain airs weekday mornings on ITV.
