Married at First Sight Australia star Andrea ‘Andie’ Thompson has shed light on her relationship with Timothy Smith, saying they are just friends.

The duo appeared together in the 11th season of the reality show, being paired up with Richard Sauerman and Lucinda Light respectively during the experiment.

Both couples opted to break up before their final vows, with Andie and Lucinda forming a friendship during the show that has lasted in the ensuing months.

With Lucinda and Timothy not working out, rumours began to swirl that he had begun a romantic relationship with Andie, but the star revealed in an Instagram post that they are strictly friends.

“Here, in a big car with this guy,” said Andie in a video as she panned to Timothy, who remarked: “What’s up people?” Andie then continued: “We’re about to go shopping because that’s what you do with your friends”, with Timothy adding that they were “friends for life.”

Andie also commented on the situation in the caption, writing: “Here to hang out! Friends who don’t kiss on the lips, since you’re all asking…This man has been my rock and couldn’t imagine this journey without him and Lulu xxx @timsmith_melbourne #mafs #mafsaustralia #friends.”

The post came after fans had hoped that Timothy would get back together with Lucinda following the reunion episode, but she squashed the prospect of a rekindling as she reiterated that the pair were solely good friends.

“Truly there is no romantic potential there. I’ve squeezed out the ideas around that one, and I’m looking for something very different in my life. And he absolutely is too,” said Lucinda.

“We have a hoot together, there’s a lot of chemistry in our relationship from that three-month immersion. When we hung out two or three weeks ago, we got spoiled in this restaurant in Melbourne and the banter was just outrageous. We had tears in our eyes. We have a lot of fun.”
