Steph McGovern is coming back to TV after her show Steph's Packed Lunch was unexpectedly axed last year.

The host is returning to our screens in an episode of Have I Got News For You airing tonight (Friday, April 26) on BBC One.

McGovern shared the news on Instagram, posting a picture with her make-up artist Patrick Bartley as they were on their way to taping the show yesterday (April 25).

"'Let's get a nice picture of us on our way to Have I Got News for You' she says…" McGovern wrote in the caption, joking with Bartley who's sticking his tongue out for the camera.

McGovern will be a guest on Paul Merton's team. She has previously hosted the show and appeared as a guest panellist on multiple occasions.

This week's episode will be hosted by Money Saving Expert founder Martin Lewis, and also features comedian Ignacio Lopez as the guest panellist on Ian Hislop's team.

In October 2023, Channel 4 pulled the plug on McGovern's daytime show Steph's Packed Lunch after three years on the air.

"With audience habits changing quicker than ever, we have to make difficult decisions about which programmes to invest in to best drive our digital-first strategy," the statement from the network said.

"We remain as committed as ever to our mission to help level up the TV industry outside London and to our 50% origination out-of-London target," it continued, with Channel 4 "[hoping] to work with Steph on other projects soon".

The show aired its last-ever episode in December 2023, as McGovern gave her viewers a tearful goodbye.

Signing off for the last time, she said: "We've had a proper laugh doing this show. Thank you for sharing your stories with us and being part of this dysfunctional family."

Have I Got News For You airs on Fridays at 9pm on BBC One.
