Strictly Come Dancing star Dianne Buswell has shared an update on her dad's cancer battle, confirming he has now finished chemotherapy.

The professional dancer, who has not disclosed what type of cancer her dad Mark has, previously announced that her father was to undergo chemotherapy for treatment back in November last year.

In her latest update via Instagram, Dianne was pleased to report that six months on, her dad has now finished his 12 rounds of chemotherapy.

"To my daddy you did it 6 months later and 12 rounds done," read her post caption, alongside a video montage of photos of her dad receiving treatment in hospital.

"I am so so PROUD of you it’s been a tough road but you have always done it with a smile and a thumbs up. I know you were scared and I know it was not easy but you have done it."

In the post, Dianne confirmed that she was not currently with her father, who resides with her mum back in her native Australia.

"I wish so much I could be there right now and just cuddle you," she continued. "Your my hero and you have made me realise we all have so much more strength then we think.

"And to my beautiful mum who has not left your side and been the best support system ever thank you. us kids are so lucky to have you both we love you so much," Diane wrote.

The Strictly pro ended her post by suggesting a Christmas vacation in England was on the cards for her parents: "Now we need to book that trip in back to UK for the both of you 🎄🙏".

Mark commented on his daughter's post, thanking people for their support and reflecting on his health journey.

"I'm so happy to have such a loving wife and loving children, my journey with cancer has been a hard one," he wrote. "We are looking forward to having Christmas in the UK thanks again to everyone for your messages of support, love to all MARK BUSWELL AUSTRALIA."

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
