Alex Jones has confirmed she is taking a break from The One Show.

The presenter recently shared on Instagram that she is temporarily stepping away from the BBC One show to go on holiday with her family.

Sharing a selfie from The One Show's dressing rooms, Alex wrote: "The face of a woman who is off on holiday…

"Thank you for watching this week and especially for all the lovely comments about last [week's] One Big Thank You. The team is the best at finding great stories. It was an emotional one. Still on @bbciplayer if you missed it."

She has since shared some snaps from her family holiday in Lanzarote, where she joked that her "holiday mode [has been] fully activated".

She added: "We had a bit of a road trip today and went to the north of the island to Mirador del Rio for the incredible view (and lovely cafe) and then on to @jameosdelagua, an amazing cave where they have a protected species of blind crabs in the underground lagoon and an opera theatre, all via a delicious fish restaurant in a tiny village called Los Moros.

"Then, to finish a ‘disco’ at the villa. The fact that they have disco lights around the pool is probably the most exciting thing for the children! Life feels extra nice in the sun!"

Before her holiday, Alex had a lovely on-air reunion with former One Show co-host Matt Baker as he returned to the show as a guest last week.

The pair were on-screen partners for nine years before Matt bowed out in early 2020 to devote his time to other projects. Alex now presents with Jermaine Jenas and Roman Kemp.

The One Show airs Mondays through Fridays at 7pm on BBC One.
