A1 have joked that they are "aiming for mediocre" on The Big Reunion.

Speaking to Digital Spy, the boyband admitted that they have found it hard to get back into the swing of performing on the ITV2 show.

"It's not really bad - it's going to be entertaining," Christian Ingebrigtsen said, as Ben Adams quipped: "It's going to be average, an average show... We're aiming for mediocre, then you can only be successful."

The trio - who described The Big Reunion as a great "platform" for them - also admitted that this is the first time they have really been honest about their time together.

Mark Read confessed that it was a "little uncomfortable" to talk about some things, while Adams said they used to "sugar-coat" a lot.

"We were a very squeaky clean pop band - that was how it was supposed to be back in the day," he said. "So even if there was trouble and stuff like that we would smile through it and we would be like, 'Oh, everything's wonderful', even if we had the worst time ever."

The Big Reunion returns on Thursday (February 6) at 9pm on ITV2.
