Recent press stories concerning Big Brother contestant Vanessa Nimmo being handcuffed by a man in a nightclub, appear to have been the victim of a publicity stunt, it now appears.

Vanessa was previously reported to have been reduced to tears when a man handcuffed himself to her as a prank but then lost the key, and paraded her around in the street as a trophy, prompting bouncers to intervene.

But today's tabloids report that it was merely a publicity stunt for Sky One's forthcoming TV Show Ed versus Spencer, in which two men vie to become more famous than the other - and Vanessa was very much in on the joke.

Vanessa has been involved all week in other stunts for the show, taking contestant Spencer Claridge to a film premiere on Monday, and being filmed having a row and throwing a glass of wine over him in a restaurant yesterday. The handcuff stunt was rival Ed Leigh's attempt to sabotage Spencer's efforts.

Ed also turns out to be a snowboarder, MTV presenter, and several-time winner of the UK Air Guitar Championships under his alter-ego name Satan Whoppercock.

Fellow snowboarder Spencer is also a winter sports events organiser and jump designer, though his air guitar credentials remain a mystery.

Despite having these two characters competing for her, Vanessa, 27, is now reportedly dating Castaway's Ben Fogle.
