Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has shared a sweet "Valentine's treat" she received from husband Ben Jones.

The dancer took to her Instagram Stories to reveal that Ben had given her a spa day as an "early" present yesterday (February 12), as she will be spending Valentine's Day itself in hospital.

"After feeling really rough the last few days (nasty cough) thank you for a lovely spa day today Ben," Amy began.

The star had already begun filming when she was diagnosed, and as such some of her Strictly friends will be helping out on the show.

"I am so delighted Dare To Dance is back," Amy said of the renewal. "When I dance, I feel like I can overcome anything. It's something I want more people to experience, I really believe it can change your life.

"I was never going to let my diagnosis get in the way of what I love most and I am thrilled that my wonderful dance family could step in to ensure my wonderful students blew their family and friends away with their performance."

In other news, former Strictly contestant and Amy's friend Sara Davies has revealed that the dancer was worried the show wouldn't want her back after missing the last series.

"[She said] 'But if I don't dance this year, they might not want me back next year,'" Sara told the Invite Only podcast.

"And I said: 'Amy, you're amazing at what you do, of course they will want you back... You are so well-loved. Please, it's really important. Get well.'"

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
