Lord Alan Sugar fired his second contestant of The Apprentice 2024 tonight (February 9).

Week Two's task saw the teams – separated into men and women – manufacturing and selling mini cheesecakes to the public and a corporate client. It was simple: the group that secured the largest profit won.

"I have to make a decision out of the three of you," he told project manager Phil Turner, Asif Munaf and Paul, before turning his attention towards the latter.

"I admire you for admitting your mistakes but there were simply too many mistakes and so it is with regret Paul, you're fired."

Rather nonchalantly, Paul replied: "Fair enough mate, thank you very much!" and headed straight for the back of the infamous black cab.

"The biggest regret is obviously banging on about chocolate but it's time to go back and make some pies!" reflected Paul, who is the company director of a pie-making firm.

In the task, he tried several times to convince fruit and vegetable specialist Innocent that his white chocolate and popping candy cheesecakes were right up their street, despite the company's mantra of healthy living.

All tallied up, the men spent £422.85 on their ingredients and managed to sell £908's worth of products, while the women spent £14.85 less and brought in £1143 – making for a much greater profit margin.

The Apprentice airs on Thursdays at 9pm on BBC One, with spin-off series You're Fired airing immediately afterwards on BBC Two.
