Loose Women star and former Celebrity Big Brother winner Coleen Nolan has revealed she's been diagnosed with skin cancer.

Coleen, who first rose to fame as part of family pop group The Nolans, has already seen three of her sisters diagnosed with cancer.

The long-running Loose Women panellist announced the news publicly on Monday's (July 17) episode of the ITV daytime show.

Coleen explained to viewers how doctors recently found she had the common skin cancer basal cell carcinoma.

The star's sister, Maureen Nolan, alerted Coleen to a "tiny bit of skin" on her shoulder that was "a bit red", before she decided to get it checked by her doctor.

When Coleen was at a dermatologist visit for another issue, her doctor confirmed that the spot on her shoulder was cancerous and would need treatment.

"I went back in and he was very good and he said, 'Look, it's nothing to worry about. It is actually a cancer that doesn't necessarily spread, but you do need to treat it and we'll try it with cream and then the chemo cream and then if that doesn't work, we'll cut it out and give you a skin graft," she explained.

"It was so shocking my first instinct, typical me, was to laugh hysterically because I just thought that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard anybody say because I'm sick of cancer."

Coleen admitted she struggled with telling her family about the diagnosis because her sister Linda is battling incurable cancer right now.

Her other sister Anne recently battled the disease as well, while the siblings also sadly lost their sister Bernie to breast cancer ten years ago.

Coleen told her fellow Loose Women stars: "This, what I've got at the moment, seems like nothing compared to what my sisters have been through."

Linda reacted to her sister's announcement with a supportive statement of her own on social media, where she also wrote a cautionary message: "Very proud of my little sis. She acted on her instincts, found something amiss and got it checked. 👍

"If you spot something out of the ordinary for you, PLEASE get it checked. Don’t be frightened."
