Taskmaster spoilers follow.

Taskmaster Greg Davies and his loyal co-host Alex Horne have crowned the show's 2022 winner at the end of a "grape" final episode.

Tonight's (December 1) Taskmaster saw Dara Ó Briain being announced as winner after leading the season in a tense neck-and-neck with Sarah Millican.

As usual, this season's quintet – also including Fern Brady, Munya Chawawa and John Kearns – were involved in delightfully ridiculous challenges to determine who would take the biscuit.

For the finale's first task, each contestant was told to "just eat the grape" as they were stuck in a caravan. Unable to get out, they had to come up with inventive ways to convince Alex to help them, while solving clues and attempting to find the key to the door.

Dara was the quickest, while John took over 20 minutes, ending up staring into the abyss of a can of chickpeas to look for the grape. Spoiler: there was no grape in there.

For the second challenge of the night, the team had to show off their artistic skills to sculpt each other's likenesses. Results were very mixed.

Initially asked to name three random items of their choice, the contestants had to work with those objects (and, in Dara's case, an Irishman too) for their final task.

The challenge involved throwing one of the items over to the caravan and completely covering another with the third item and placing the covered item on a barrel without touching it.

While Sarah had to be very careful when throwing her scissors and Fern patiently used felt-tip pens to move potatoes without touching them, Dara rather enjoyed throwing one of his pints of Irish cider over to the caravan. He also had the biggest advantage as his human pal could move around the garden freely, hiding the other pint in his work coverall and allowing him to complete the task in under one minute.

The in-studio task saw the celebrity line-up rocking a skirt made of balloons. They had to deflate them one by one to try to get them to land as close to Greg as possible without hitting him.

Dara won this final challenge and episode, also leading the season with 184 points. It was a close call with Sarah, who was short of just ten points at 174. Munya ended up earning 150 points, while Fern and John made Taskmaster history with a joint fourth place, finishing off with 144 points each.

Taskmaster will return for its Taskmaster's New Year Treat one-off special this festive season on Channel 4, then series 15 is expected to air in 2023.
