The Hills star Audrina Patridge has weighed in on the show returning to our screens with a brand new cast.

Patridge starred on the original 2006 reality TV programme, which zeroed in on her life and those of friends Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag and Whitney Port. Last month, MTV announced the show would be rebooted with a more diverse cast and a new title, The Hills: Next Gen.

"I'm a little bummed out about it, but I guess they want a younger generation and as you get older, you have more responsibilities and you care about your image," Patridge said during a livestream on TalkShopLive to promote her new book, Choices: To The Hills and Back Again.

"And we're not in our twenties anymore, so I guess getting a new generation of kids makes sense 'cause they're going to be carefree and wild," she added, also saying: "We didn't really have too much more drama to give."

Since her stint on The Hills, Patridge has starred on her own reality show, Audrina, as well as horror film Sorority Row, and competed in Dancing with the Stars in 2010. She was also in the main cast of the Lauren-less revival The Hills: New Beginnings, cancelled after two seasons in January this year.

As for her personal life, Patridge gave birth to daughter Kirra Max in 2016, months before tying the knot with Corey Bohan. The couple divorced in 2018.

About the reboot, Patridge expressed one main concern after learning that The Hills: Next Gen will be a tad crowded, featuring a cast of 20.

"I can't believe they're doing this, to be honest," she said.

"We were all kind of shocked. Especially because on The Hills: New Beginnings, we had a cast of 14 and it was actually really hard to film because there were so many people and so many things going on."

The Hills: Next Gen doesn't have a release date yet.
