Ant and Dec have teased the return of their drag personas, first introduced on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.

In February, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly gave the queens of RuPaul's Drag Race UK a run for their money when they graced the screen as Lady Antoinette and Miss Donna Lee.

Wrapped in fabulous outfits, the presenting duo teamed up with The Vivienne, Lawrence Chaney and Krystal Versace to perform their charity song, 'We Werk Together'.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other media after their Best Entertainment Programme win at the BAFTAs last night (May 8), the two hosts explained they were "moved" by the support they received from viewers following their performance.

"We were quite moved by how inspirational people found it, and when we had the idea of doing the drag act, we wanted to do it properly," Dec said.

"We wanted to do it right, and we want to be respectful of the art form, and we didn't want it to look silly and that we slapped on a bit of lipstick and eyeshadow and then walked out in wonky heels."

They hadn't anticipated the overwhelmingly positive reactions from the public, though.

"But then we got a lot of messages from people saying how inspirational they found it and how it's given people courage to be themselves. That was something we hadn't really catered for," Dec continued.

"We hadn't really thought that would be the case. So yeah, it was mind-blowing [and] surprising, but it was quite moving as well. I'm proud and happy that people got so much out of it."

Given viewers' appreciation of the performance, it's safe to assume that many would be delighted to welcome Antoinette and Donna Lee back on stage at some point in the future. But would Ant and Dec be up to the challenge?

"Well, Do you know what? I really did enjoy doing it," Ant said. "So possibly! That's a yes."

Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway will return in 2023. Britain's Got Talent airs on Saturday nights at 8pm on ITV.
