Carol McGiffin has addressed rumours of a feud between herself and ITV morning show presenter Lorraine Kelly.

The Loose Women veteran sparked speculation of a spat when she reacted to a Twitter post that criticised TV stars such as Piers Morgan, Dr Hilary Jones and The Apprentice's Karren Brady – before supposedly noticing that the Twitter post's line-up included Kelly, too.

McGiffin labelled the stars "revolting" in her response.

After her response prompted a reaction from fans, the 61-year-old explained that she hadn't clocked the last few names on the list and that she "deleted it as soon as I saw lovely Lorraine who has no place in that rogues gallery."

"Unfortunately I retweeted it without looking at the whole picture. I didn't see the bottom row," she said in a statement to The Mirror.

McGiffin's recent comments come just a few days after her co-star Frankie Bridge was forced to deny claims that the Loose Women gang don't get along with long-time panellist Coleen Nolan.

"My friends asked me about [the rumoured rows]. I genuinely don't experience it or see it," she admitted in late January. "When I first went on the show, I was nervous because I've read about all these feuds.

"I think it's sad that this doesn't happen on something, like, A League of Their Own, with a group of men. It's just not mentioned. Everyone always wants women to fight and it's a real shame."

Loose Women airs on weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
