RuPaul's Drag Race UK star Cheryl Hole has called for more LGBTQ+ representation in Love Island.

Speaking recently, the drag artist revealed her opinion that the ITV2 dating series should do a season that better represents the LGBTQ+ community.

Revealing she hadn't watched this season, Cheryl told The Mirror: "Whilst there has been a lot of progression in LGBTQ+ representation in television and film, there is still a long way to go in my opinion.

"We've seen shows like The Bi Life on E! with [Drag Race season 6 star] Courtney Act before but I do feel it's about time for a dating show for our community.

"I love TV shows where people are just wanting to find love. I think it's a common ground where everyone wants to feel loved and be loved and I just think there needs to be more love and happiness in the world for sure."

The comments follow Love Island representatives previously claiming that the inclusion of gay Islanders is 'logistically difficult.'

"In terms of gay Islanders, I think the main challenge is regarding the format of Love Island," ITV commissioner Amanda Stavri told Radio Times.

"There's a sort of logistical difficulty because although Islanders don't have to be 100 per cent straight, the format must sort of give [the] Islanders an equal choice when coupling up."

RuPaul's Drag Race UK series 3 will stream on BBC Three (via iPlayer) in the UK and on WOW Presents Plus in the US.
