Alex Jones has apologised to viewers of The One Show for an "unprofessional" and "childish" moment live on air… but we're not sure we really believe her.

The One Show has definitely been gaffe-prone over the years – from questioning David Cameron's sleep patterns to wrongly assuming Mary J Blige's mum had died – but the latest incident was a load of hot air. Literally.

On Thursday's (May 13) episode, Alex and new co-host Ronan Keating were in the middle of their One Big Thank You segment, where they honour someone who's made a positive impact on their community.

You can watch a clip of the hilarious moment above.

While explaining that this week's recipient was young Duncan, Alex mistakenly mentioned that "he got wind" before trying to correct herself by saying "we got wind" Duncan loved Gardening World.

"That really tickles me," she chuckled.

Ronan re-showed the moment to end the show after revealing The One Show social feeds had been getting lots of messages about the mistake.

Alex cracked up over the gaffe, admitting: "That's so unprofessional, I'm so sorry. And so childish."

One viewer even wrote in to say that she had a dog who also has wind, causing Alex to giggle all over again.

"Honestly, it's pathetic," she declared. "I mean, what's going on? I'm a grown woman, apparently!"

Don't worry Alex, we'll pass no judgement – or wind – over the hilarious gaffe. The whole scene was just a gas, after all!

The One Show airs Mondays through Fridays at 7pm on BBC One.
