Love Island 2019 star Michael Griffiths has said that he doesn't regret what happened with Amber Gill in the villa last year.

The former Islander received huge backlash from viewers about his treatment of Amber following his Casa Amor recoupling with fellow co-star Joanna Chimonides.

Discussing his time in the villa, Michael has revealed that he doesn't regret what went down between him and Amber, as it wouldn't have been fair for both of them in the long run.

"If I'd have stayed with Amber for the sake of it I'd be doing none of us any justice," Michael told Mirror Online.

"We weren't going to work in a relationship so why would I drag it out and hurt her in the long run? Even though I hurt her there and then she went on to win it.

"It would have been worse in the long run, I was true to myself and I don't regret anything with Amber because we weren't meant to be together and if I like someone else then it's obviously not meant to be. I wouldn't be interested in another girl if I was meant to be with her."

Referring to fellow Islanders Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague, he continued: "Look at Tommy and Molly-Mae, they're still together and they're doing great.

"So no, I don't regret anything."

Michael added: "If I see her [Amber] I can speak to her but it's not like I'm going to pick up the phone and call her because we don't have anything to speak about. I'm not really a bad guy.

"I said I'd much rather they painted me as the villain than anybody else, because I wouldn't like to see anyone else go through what I've been through."

Michael and Ellie Brown recently denied claims that they're currently in a relationship, with Ellie saying in an Instagram Story: "I just want to clear up that I do not have a boyfriend. I did not find 'The One' and that picture is from five months ago – we've all got pictures together!"

And Michael added: "I am single. I'm not in a relationship. I'm single – relax."

The pair have also explained that they did get together during Celebrity Ex on the Beach, but the relationship came to an end after they left.
