When Maura Higgins first entered the Love Island villa, Curtis Pritchard revealed to Danny that he once messaged her on Instagram, telling her he thought she was attractive.

At the time, however, she didn't get back to him – so maybe not the smoothest start to their relationship.

However, Maura has revealed why she didn't initially message her partner-to-be back, telling The Sun on Sunday: "I have to meet someone in person and build things from there."

The star said she was pleased she met him in the villa, because she would never have responded to his advances online.

We guess sliding into DMs doesn't always work, then.

Elsewhere in the same interview, Maura spilled a bit of gossip and revealed she and Curtis have now been intimate – adding that it was worth the wait.

"I'd give him a ten out of ten," she said. "We've had a good time. Was he worth the wait? Definitely, 100 per cent. I did try a few times in the villa, in the bedroom and on the outside bed.

"I tried but I didn't succeed. Curtis said that it was for me and him alone, and he didn't want to do anything in there. And that's absolutely fine.

"Actually I'm glad now that we waited, because it made it even more special."

    Maura and Curtis finished in fourth place in this year's series, and returned for the Love Island reunion special – and faced an awkward moment when the pair reunited with Curtis' former flame Amy Hart.
