Almost immediately after it finished, a second series of BBC One's The Greatest Dancer was confirmed to return to screens in 2020.

At the time, though, there was no news on whether the original line-up of dance captains would get a callback to judge the show.

Now, co-host Jordan Banjo has told The Sun that all three of this year's captains – Cheryl, Matthew Morison and Oti Mabuse – should be returning to dance again.

"As far as I know everyone is coming back," Jordan said.

Digital Spy has reached out to the BBC and The Greatest Dancer's judges for further comment.

Jordan said that Cheryl's return is down to her ace performances from this series.

"Her performance with the Strictly [Come Dancing] pros was like a baptism of fire," he said. "Getting on stage with them at world-class level and holding her own, she smashed it."

Cheryl was – very fairly – nervous before performing with the other judges on the show, saying at the time: "There's always an element of nerves when you're rehearsing and being lifted by someone else as you have to trust them entirely."

But the work paid off and her performances were as fierce as they get.

This year's series saw Ellie Fergusson, mentored by Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse, take the title. Her win bagged her £50,000 and a spot performing on Strictly.

The show proved a hit for the BBC, although it faced strong competition from The Voice UK in the Saturday night ratings battle.

The Greatest Dancer will return in 2020 on BBC One.
