There are few people in the business like Ant & Dec, but if we were asked to offer a reason for the duo's enduring popularity, we might struggle to come up with something other than, 'They're just the loveliest lads'.
Fortunately, Ant & Dec's Britain's Got Talent colleague, David Walliams, has more of a nuanced explanation for the friends' success, and also speculated how long their career will actually last.
Speaking to The Mirror, David admitted that he could see similarities between Ant & Dec and the likes of Sir Bruce Forsyth: "You could imagine [them] having a 60 or 70-year career," he said. "You can imagine them in 30 years on TV, two old blokes people still love."

For those hoping for some advice on emulating Ant & Dec's career, you're out of luck. That kind of "fairy dust" isn't for bottling, apparently.
"When something is successful, there is always a sprinkling of fairy dust, you can't quite explain what makes it work," David continued. "They make you smile when they come on TV. They are funny and multi-talented. You can get them to sing, dance, act."

As well as name-checking the presenters in the same breath as Morecambe and Wise, David went on to praise Ant & Dec's humility: "They are very famous but very normal... People can imagine sitting down for lunch with them."
Britain's Got Talent will return to ITV at 7.15pm on April 6.
