Cheryl was overcome with emotion on tonight's (February 2) first The Greatest Dancer live show after one of her acts performed.

The Dane Bates Collective did an epic dance to Naughty Boy's 'Runnin' (Lose It All)' for the Doors Challenge, which meant they had to incorporate doors into their routine.

"You girls kill me...," Cheryl declared as she tried to hold back tears after the group performed. "Girls you really don't have to thank me, it's you that put the work in."

As her emotion came through, the dance captain declared: "I don't know what's wrong with me!

"It was you that was up until 11pm in your hotel lobby. Who does that the night before you've got to be on stage? You got better and better every rehearsal because your dedication shows."

Cheryl also hit back at fellow dance captain Matthew Morrison after he took issue with the way the routine interpreted the theme of 'doors'.

"Just to be clear, the challenge was doors, so we used them to close the doors on our insecurities and then bash the doors down on our insecurities," she explained.

Cheryl then said of the performance: "I'm sorry, I just find it really emotional, you just get me right in the feels and I can't control myself."

The Greatest Dancer airs on BBC One.
