Harry Redknapp has revealed that he came close to dropping out of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!.

The retired football manager stormed to victory on Sunday night's final (December 9) to become the first King of the Jungle since 2014.

But, speaking recently, Harry revealed that he almost pulled the plug on plans to join the series after his beloved wife Sandra (Sarnd) become ill with the life-threatening condition sepsis.

"She's been ill with the sepsis and it's knocked her for six," Harry told The Sun.

"It was only five weeks ago. Sandra was in and out of hospital but she wanted to come over to Australia.

"I was worried about her coming, I didn't know if it was going to be too much for her."

Thankfully, Sandra pulled through and even made it into the I'm a Celeb camp to pay Harry a surprise and tearful visit just before the final, as seen below:

Speaking previously about his jungle win, Harry said: "It was tougher than I expected... but I made so many good friends. It's really been an unbelievable experience.

"I'm amazed. They just dragged me through it, every one of them. Without them, I would have never survived."
