MasterChef Australia is rumoured to be moving to Melbourne.

Bosses of the Australian reality TV series, which is currently filmed in Sydney, are believed to be considering relocating to the 'culinary capital' of the country after Melbourne's Lord Mayor voiced his support for the show.

A spokesperson for Channel Ten told the Herald Sun: "It really is a Melbourne show. It's rich and vivid and really passionate about food - and Melburnians are really passionate, not just about food but about different things."

MasterChef Australia judges Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris are all based in Melbourne and the show attracts a much bigger audience there too.

Mayor Robert Doyle added: "MasterChef is already 100% Melbourne with Matt, George and Gary and so we would love to give them some home cooking."
