Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts tried to use one of her CDs as identification when she lost her passport, according to today's Sun.
The 17-year-old was with bandmate Cheryl Tweedy at Newcastle Airport on Sunday, preparing to take an easyjet flight to Stansted.
"It was very funny because she was desperately trying to convince the check-in people who she was," a fellow passenger told the newspaper. "Cheryl had her ID out straight away but Nicola couldn’t find hers. So she picked a copy of the band’s CD out of her bag and showed that. But there was no way the staff were going to accept that as identification. A lot of passengers were watching and the girls seemed to be getting embarrassed."
Nicola eventually found her real ID after looking more thoroughly through her bags.
A spokesman for the airport said: "Two members of the band were checking in for the flight but one couldn’t initially find any photo identification. She went into her bag and brought out a copy of the band’s CD to show the staff. The airline requires all passengers to provide some form of photo identification on check-in.
"There is a long list of things which are acceptable as identification — a CD cover obviously isn’t one of them. She did eventually find some ID and both of the girls boarded the flight on time."
