The five rejected male contestants from ITV's Popstars: The Rivals are hoping to follow in the footsteps of the losers from the original series, Liberty X, by making it big in the music industry.

Andrew Kinlochan, Peter Smith, Nikk Mager, Mikey Greene and Chris Park got toegether after the show finished last December and decided to form their own band, Phixx. They are being managed by Nathan Moore, the former singer with 80s band Brother Beyond.

The group have been working with songwriters for artists such as Busted and Kylie Minogue, as well as Blue singer Lee Ryan, to come up with some original tracks. Their first single will be a cover, however, the Prince track 'Get Off', and will be released in July.

On working with Ryan, Chris told Radio 1: "[Lee is] the most talented guy any of us have ever worked with. He's a brilliant songwriter, producer, singer. People will print things but the fact that people like Lee with the talent they've got behind them believe in us is a massive compliment."
