Yes, Sapochnik appears to be returning for the eighth and final season of HBO's fantasy drama to direct multiple instalments, suggesting that indeed there will be at least one truly epic and action-packed episode.

Cinematographer Fabian Wagner, who worked with Sapochnik on 'Battle of the Bastards', 'Hardhome' and season six finale 'The Winds of Winter', revealed on Instagram that the old team was getting back together:

After a year's break during season seven, Sapochnik's return is surely something to be excited about.

In the acclaimed 'Battle of the Bastards', Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton faced off in a battle to determine control of Winterfell – which ended in Jon victorious and Ramsay fed to his own dogs.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the full list of season 8 directors also includes David Nutter ('The Rains of Castamere' aka the Red Wedding) and showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss. The team of Benioff and Weiss will tackle the series finale.

Meawhile, it has been suggested that the final season will be shooting multiple endings to combat leaks.
