Ryan Murphy is making American Horror Story and American Crime Story series happen one after another, so it was only a matter of time when something got caught in the TV cogs.

Apparently, American Crime Story: Katrina, which was meant to air next year following on from The People vs OJ Simpson, hasn't even been prepped, despite already having actors signed up.

"That just kind of got stalled," director Anthony Hemingway told The Hollywood Reporter.

"We're all standing by waiting to find out what's happening."

He added: "Nothing has really been done. We haven't started prep on it at all."

Originally, Katrina was meant to go into production around the same time as American Crime Story: Versace, but it seems showrunner Ryan Murphy has decided to focus all his energy on that one first, so it looks like Katrina will act as series three.

Matthew Broderick, Annette Bening, and Dennis Quaid as George W Bush have already signed on to star in the season – so who knows what will happen there.

Versace – following the murder of Gianni Versace – is currently filming and it's starring Glee's Darren Criss, as well as Max Greenfield, Ricky Martin and Penelope Cruz.

As if that wasn't enough, Murphy is already planning season four of the hit series, which will follow the Monica Lewinsky/Bill Clinton scandal.

However, he won't be looking for a huge star to play Monica – he's already planning on seeking out a fresh face to fill the role.

"I think we'll go after a newcomer to play Monica because that's the part," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "I'm interested in seeing a young, new person go through that brutality as Monica did."

American Crime Story: Versace will air next year.
