We have a double dose of bad news for fans of The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story.

What to Read Next

While FX is simultaneously working on two new seasons of American Crime Story (one on Hurricane Katrina and another on the Gianni Versace murder), neither will be airing this year.

And settle yourself because all of those rumours about American Horror Story's Lady Gaga reuniting with producer Ryan Murphy to star in the Versace season definitely aren't true.

Despite previously hinting otherwise, Murphy confirmed at the TCA press tour that Gaga was never actually in talks to play Donatella Versace in his drama about the killing of the designer's brother Gianni.

"She's a friend. But she's very busy this next year - she's doing Super Bowl and then she's doing A Star Is Born and I believe that she's going on tour," he told Variety.

"And when you're going to do a show like Versace, it's a five-month commitment, it's a very big show, we're shooting it all over the world. So I just don't think with her schedule, I knew that it would never had worked. But I would love to work with her on something in the future."

FX president John Landgraf also broke the news to reporters that the ambitious shooting schedule for both upcoming seasons means they'll air six months apart… in 2018.

"It's not a lurid true-crime series," he added. "We have really high ambitions for this franchise."

Whenever they air, both new series will have high standards to meet. The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story won two Golden Globes and five Primetime Emmy Awards.

In a bit of good news for Ryan Murphy fans, FX has renewed American Horror Story for two more seasons and dropped the first hints about returning cast members.
