The Doctor and co woke up in hospital seriously worse for wear after suffering the consequences of a sonic mine in Doctor Who's latest instalment 'The Tsuranga Conundrum'... and some viewers came out of the episode with their heads spinning just as much.

All the talk centred around the fast-moving monster up to no good on the ship.

Who was this terrifying creature? None other than a tiny, Crazy Frog-like alien named P'Ting, hell-bent on consuming as much energy as possible.

Unsurprisingly, the character's memorable appearance drew more than a few comparisons...

And for a number of fans, P'Ting is now their new favourite pet, despite the "risk to life: ultimate".

The misunderstood, gooey nemesis proved so weird, that the tale of a pregnant man almost slipped by without a raised eyebrow.

But unlike most of the episodes in the new series so far, 'The Tsuranga Conundrum' appeared to split viewers, with some citing the in-depth physics as a reason to switch off and others finding the whole thing either a bit too much or a bit lacking.

However, there were those who enjoyed a return to the full-blown sci-fi Doctor Who can do so well.

The emotional story of the new companions also drew praise as Ryan revealed that his mother died of a heart attack when he was just 13, with his dad absent.

There might have been a more lighthearted villain in this episode, but it was made up for by the serious heart-to-hearts which viewers appreciated.

And, of course, any reference to previous Doctors gets a lot of love and this time was no exception.

The Doctor said it best, she always prevails.

Doctor Who continues next Sunday (November 11) at 7pm with 'Demons of the Punjab'.
