"I don't think the Earth is flat, don't get me wrong," said Freddie, joking that the Earth is more "turnip shaped".

"But I bumped into Tim Peake the astronaut and Brian Cox. I said, 'Watch this Paddy.' I went over and I said, 'Come on lads, it's flat isn't it?'"

Much to the joy of the audience, Freddie shared the Peake and Cox's reaction. "He looked at me as if I was a complete muppet," Freddie laughed. "Brian Cox just looked at me like, 'What?'

"And Tim Peake was giving me a smile as if to say, 'Keep walking, son.'"

Stacey Solomon then asked Freddie: "You don't believe people landed on the moon, do you?"

"Not really," he replied.

When asked why he's so fascinated by conspiracies, Freddie said: "I think it's anything people tell you, I've always challenged.

"Whether it was coaches when I was playing cricket, I used to challenge them, if I've not seen it or experienced it with my own eyes, it doesn't necessarily have to have happened."

"If I haven't seen it with my own eyes, I don't believe it."

Perhaps he will put some theories to the test as the new presenter of Top Gear.

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm.
