BBC drama has been on a strong run recently with Bodyguard and Killing Eve keeping millions gripped, but there's another exciting series on the way too.
The Little Drummer Girl comes to BBC One next month as the latest adaptation of a John Le Carré novel. It will also air on AMC in the US.
Starring Florence Pugh and Alexander Skarsgard, it's the story of an eccentric English actor who converts into an Israeli spy.
Skarsgard has given us a bit more detail via a new interview with The Telegraph, in which he expands on his character — a Mossad agent called Becker who becomes romantically entangled with Charlie (Pugh).
"That sense of duty and guilt at the same time, that dichotomy created an inner conflict that I found really interesting," he revealed.
"Wanting to do something but feeling helpless was core to finding out who he was."
What to Read Next
Alexander's father, Stellan, once appeared in another Le Carré adaptation, 2016's My Kind Of Traitor, and that shared experience helped him become "familiar with this cinematic universe".
According to Skarsgard, the best experience of the whole project was shooting a scene at Ancient Greek temple the Acropolis by night.
"It was just extraordinary," he said.
"You could tell that for everyone this would be one of the most memorable nights of their life."
Fans were given their first look at the upcoming BBC drama in July with the Park Chan-Wook-directed thriller also starring Michael Moshonov (The City and the City), Charif Ghattas (After the Ashes), Amir Khoury (Fauda), Katharina Schüttler (Dogs of Berlin), Simona Brown (Kiss Me First) and Max Irons (Terminal)
The Little Drummer Girl premieres on BBC One in October.
