The most-tanned sitcom on TV came to an end tonight (May 2), as ITV's Benidorm closed its doors after ten series.

Well, the big plot thread was the planned hotel buyout, which had Joyce Temple-Savage and everyone else worried for their jobs. It looked at the end that Sir Henry would make sure nothing would change for the staff, but then a jealous Monty punched him in the face...
The other main plot saw the Dawsons trying to get home to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, before flight cancellations and a miserable airport worker got in their way.
The episode ended with the Henry/Monty drama unfolding, as former Frankie Goes to Hollywood frontman Holly Johnson sang 'The Power of Love'.
It seemed like quite a low-key finale for the show, which some viewers found disappointing. But there were plenty of people who thought that getting Holly Johnson in for the finale really made it special:

Creator Derren Litten admitted he is too drunk to tweet following the episode's broadcast, but shared a photo of his Elvis-impersonator cameo from the episode:
But he did tweet this wonderful picture:
And a final, lovely message from the show's official Twitter account:
Meanwhile, either Kenneth DuBeke actor Tony Maudsley hasn't read the news from earlier this week, or this "next series" he's referring to means he knows something we don't...
And don't worry β now the series has ended on ITV (we think?), a stage show is on the way.
