Poldark fans, brace yourselves!
Not only are you on the verge of getting the fourth series of Aidan Turner's action-packed period drama, but the BBC has already commissioned a fifth series of Poldark for your pleasure too.
The exciting news was announced via a video message from cast member Eleanor Tomlinson (aka Demelza) during a screening of the series four opener at the BFI on Wednesday night (May 2).
"I can confirm that we are going to make series five of Poldark," she announced, adding: "Ya! So exciting!"
A fifth series order from the BBC was basically always just a formality, since Aidan Turner described the show as a "five-year gig" when discussing Poldark's future ahead of the new episodes.
The future of Poldark beyond the fifth year is a bit murkier, but the good news is that Turner hasn't ruled out extending Poldark to a "six-year gig" should the writers come up with a compelling way to continue.

"Definitely we're going to do season five, we're going to shoot the fifth one. After that, I don't know," the actor said. "We'll have to see how it all goes, but definitely for five. It's kind of one step at a time."
Poldark will be back very soon on BBC One in the UK with a huge recasting for fan-favourite character Geoffrey Charles and the arrival of a formidable new villain.
In the US, the fourth series will air later in the year on PBS as part of the Masterpiece programming block. Watch a teaser below:
