A charity screening of the finale of Peter Kay's Car Share left fans praising the final episode of the BBC show – although they'll have to keep the ending under wraps, as the episode won't be aired on television until next month.
Nearly 3,000 fans saw the first screening, getting a first-look at how things wrap up between Peter Kay's character John, and Sian Gibson's character Kayleigh.
Peter Kay himself also made a surprise appearance at one of the screenings, which took place at Blackpool Opera House this weekend with the aim of fundraising for the Lily Foundation, a charity which raises money for mitochondrial disease.
In his brief appearance, he said (via The Independent): "Thank you very much for supporting the Lily Foundation raising money for mitochondrial disease. Very kind of you. I appreciate it. Enjoy the last ever episode of Car Share. Don't tell anyone the end. Or tell anyone about any hedgehogs."
The second series of Car Share ended on a cliffhanger in 2017, as the fate of John and Kayleigh was left unknown.
As well as the special finale episode – made after the pair announced there would not be a third series of the show – an entirely improvised episode was also screened.

And fans of the series who couldn't get tickets to the charity screenings should rest assured: those who have seen the episode came out insisting it was "very funny", even branding Kay a comedy genius.
Peter Kay's Car Share will air its final two episodes on BBC One in May, with a broadcast date yet to be confirmed.
