You can ignore all the other adverts this year (sorry, Moz the monster), as we think BBC One may have just won Christmas.

Auntie Beeb's short film, called 'The Supporting Act', dropped online earlier today (December 2) and tells the heartwarming story of a single father and his daughter.

In a montage, the young girl rehearses a dance for her school's talent competition in the presence of her dad over a series of days, though he seems to ignore her as he is bogged down with work.

However, when it comes to the real performance, the girl freezes on stage and the father proves that he was paying attention after all as he encourages her from the audience.

A number of social media users praised the advert online, and more than a few were even moved to tears:

The clip is due to be shown on the BBC throughout the holiday season, making its big TV premiere after Strictly Come Dancing this evening (December 2) - so you better prepare those tissues.

Charlotte Moore, BBC Director of Content said of the advert: "Christmas is a time when people come together to enjoy shared experiences, and special moments.

"We wanted to reflect that in our Christmas campaign this year and we hope this film will touch hearts and make you smile over the festive period," Moore added.
