Peaky Blinders' upcoming fourth series will drag Tommy Shelby and his gang into a brutal war with the mafia.
Academy Award winner Adrien Brody is joining the BBC crime drama as the Italian mobster Luca Changretta, who creator Steven Knight has described as "the biggest" threat ever faced by the Shelbys.
Helen McCrory, who plays Aunt Polly, hyped the conflict between the mafia and the Peaky Blinders crew even more during an appearance on The One Show on Tuesday (November 14).
"Are [the Shelbys] going to destroy each other, or the enemy?" she teased. "This is what's so clever. Actually, no-one is united more than when people know what they hate.
"The mafia arrive. As the Mafia arrive, that's the moment that you think, 'Are the Shelbys actually going to be able to defeat them or not?' And so, they all go back to a proper gangster [tactic], which is defending the turf. So, the Shelbys are back at the Garrison and Watery Lane."
In addition to promising a bloody conflict between these two warring criminal gangs, McCrory also predicted that series four might actually be the high water mark for the entire show thus far.

"Season four is as good as season one," she boasted. "There was a moment in season one where Tommy has red dice in his hand and he blows it. I remember thinking, 'This is it!'
"There's a same moment in this first episode of season four that I looked at it and thought it's completely back [to that level]. I'm so excited about it."
As the show's international cast continues to grow, series creator Steven Knight admitted earlier this week that he's tempted to cast Hollywood superfans like Samuel L Jackson and Julia Roberts for future series.
