The BBC's Agatha Christie adaptations have become something of a Christmas staple in recent years, so we're not only excited at the announcement of another one, but because of the all-star cast too.

Ordeal by Innocence will be led by none other than the delightfully hammy Bill Nighy, alongside Eleanor Tomlinson, who plays Demelza Poldark in, you guessed it, Poldark.

Other stars include Star Trek Into Darkness' Alice Eve, White Gold's Ed Westwick, Star Wars' Crystal Clarke, Downton Abbey's Matthew Goode, Get Out's Catherine Keener, Fortitude's Luke Treadaway, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child's Anthony Boyle and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children's Ella Purnell. Phew!

The original novel was published in 1958, making it almost 60 years old, and is about – you guessed it – a murder. This one focuses more on the psychology than the figuring-out of the case, and while it wasn't the best received at the time, it's now seen as one of Christie's better later works.

Agatha Christie's great grandson (and executive chairman of Agatha Christie Ltd) said in a press release that "Ordeal by Innocence was one of Christie's personal favourites.

"I cannot wait to see how this outstanding cast will bring her story to life under the skilful direction of Sandra Goldbacher and the Mammoth Screen production team."
