Just in case you were having withdrawal symptoms because it's been over a year since the last episode... Matt Berry just brought back a slice of Toast of London to our screens on Comic Relief.

Unfortunately, we didn't quite get to see the usual showing of Matt Berry's character Stephen Toast having hilarious (and often cringeworthy) encounters with however many women while trying to hold down an acting career. In fact, there were very few females involved at all.

But we did get to see more of what Toast does best: spectacularly fail at an acting job.

This time Stephen gave a helping hand by providing a voice over for a Comic Relief appeal film.

However, Tim Downie and Lenny Henry joined in on the sketch and insisted that Toast should start the piece's second sentence within a very precise time: exactly one-fifteenth of a second.

"Timings crucial on this Stephen," Downie (who plays Stephen Bear on Toast) confirmed, before reassuring that it was none other than Richard Curtis who was demanding the timings.

"I've never heard of him. I've heard of Tony Curtis and Ian Curtis and Joy Division," Stephen exclaimed.

After a few hilarious failed attempts, Tim Downie concluded that it was once again too long – so Lenny Henry stepped in to nail the line-timing challenge.

Obviously, that didn't sit well with Toast – and if he wasn't miffed enough already, when he took off the red nose Lenny forced him to wear, his hooter was smeared with prank ink – leaving everyone in laughter.

Except for him of course.

So to conclude the sketch in good ol' Toast fashion, Stephen wrecks the set and then storms off all because, yet again, he couldn't do his job properly.

Aww. Poor. Stephen.
