Pass us the champers would you, darling? No, we're not celebrating - we just need a stiff drink.

Why? Because Jennifer Saunders has confirmed that we've already seen the last of Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone.

Speaking in a lengthy interview with the Daily Mail, Saunders stated that this year's box office hit Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie was a send-off for the beloved alcoholics.

"I'm not doing anything more with Ab Fab. That's it," she said. But are you sure though, Jen?

"That. Is. It. I can't see the point of doing anything else with it, really."

Yeah, but are you completely, totally, 100% sure?

What to Read Next

"Yes. It just takes so long. There's lots of other stuff I'd like to do. Plus I'd like to spend time with my grandchildren.

"So, if I did Ab Fab as well that would just stop me doing anything new, or thinking of any other ideas or having a different job or whatever."

When it was suggested Ab Fab could come back as a musical, Saunders said "We'd be so old. This is like taking geriatrics out now.

"I don't know how long I can say to Julia (Sawalha, who plays played long suffering Saffy), 'Can you come back and would you wear those awful clothes again?'"

Saunders also reiterated that the movie (and all the celebrity cameos) was for the fans.

"(Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie) was just a sort of crazy celebration of people who had been in Ab Fab and people who wanted to be in Ab Fab.

"I set out with the idea that the film was for the fans: there are loads of lines and little references for people who love the show."
